Well, here in New Brunswick, at least, there doesn't seem to be any more of a shortage in cash than there was this time last year...and speaking of Miramichi in particular, I have never seen ppl spending money like they are this winter...especially in the month of January.
The trend is that, usually, after Christmas, ppl stop shopping completely[not really, but pretty close], and there isn't a whole lot of business around for retailers, which results in employers cutting the workers' normal weekly hours to a sometimes scary low.
But not this year. You would think that ppl would be banking their money, and saving their hard-earned dollar for the coming day where that hurtling asteroid named 'deep recession' hits us head on. But, heck, even I seem to have my head stuck in the sand concerning the global recession. Not that I am spending hand-over-fist by any means, but neither am I clutching every earned dollar as if it may well be my last. I hope this crisis passes before we all end up regretting our post-holiday shop fests...
Here's to another dollar come and gone...
